This trail is absolutely beautiful! I've lived here for years and never knew this place existed. My husband and I and our 2 and 5 year old enjoyed it so much. The trestle bridge over the Broad River is amazing and has such pretty views. There are picnic tables right by the river and benches too just to stop and enjoy the scenery. The trail is very flat and easy to walk. Very easy for elderly or small children. We even had a stroller with us and it was no problem. As long as it has good tires, you are good. The parking location by the trestle bridge right at the Broad River is the beginning of the trail, but there are multiple other access places to the trail. At first we actually parked across from the Peak Pharmacy and went in from there on the opposite side of the river. And before that we drove to Pomaria and parked at the Palmetto Trail parking area near Wilson's convenience store and walked a mile or so on that part of the trail. That access point is about the mid point of the 10 mile trail. Lots of pretty woods and smaller bridges over little creeks and pretty nature views.

I absolutely adore this place - it’s such a hidden gem within our state with such beautiful views. the trails are easy to hike, which makes it the perfect location to take pictures, go on a date, or even just go on an adventure with yourself or friends.
A wonderful, well maintained stretch of the trail.
The Alston trail head provides several picnic options, including scenic views of the Broad River, a shelter, boat launch, and primitive camping. But most spectacular of all, the trestle over the river connecting the tail to Peak. You can spy osprey, muskrat, beaver, otter, and even bald eagle.
Really nice trailhead here in Peak with an old railroad bridge converted to a pedestrian trail. Watched the 2017 solar eclipse from this location and it was amazing.
