Great stop about halfway between Milwaukee and Chicago. The 4 mile loop around the lake is a nice, mostly flat mix of open prairie and woods. Starts and ends with a nice boardwalk, and due to the flatness in the area is great to catch sunsets with an expansive horizon. There are a mix of trails of varying lengths, and is open to hikers, horseback, cross country, and biking on the portion north of the highway. The trails are enjoyable and have something to offer with each season of the year. If you are like me, you’ve driven by while on 94 and chuckled briefly at the name. If you enjoy hiking and the great outdoors, do yourself a favor and stop by if in the area.

This place is great. I went hiking around Wolf Lake and felt totally peaceful. It was uncrowded and full of beautiful scenery. The small increases and decreases in elevation made it more thrilling too. Would recommend anyone to go hike this spot.

Very clean, organized, and friendly recreational area. My girlfriend really loves the outdoors so I took her camping for her birthday. Pretty cool to watch the dirt bikes along the dirt bike trail. The walking trails were neat. We brought our two small dogs under 20 lbs camping with us. We were told dogs aren't allowed inside any buildings by staff but there weren't any signs validating this claim. We listened to staff anyway.

For being fairly flat and boring visually, there are plenty of other things Bong is useful for. Hiking, biking, hunting, horseback riding, probably cross country skiing... this is one of the trails that crosses the street, and it’s much less flat and boring than the other side of the road. Kids and dogs enjoyed it too. Also, if you’re into astrophotography or star gazing (or the moon), this is the darkest point in our area for capturing night images. We go into the park, keep straight past visitors center, keto to the right, make the first right towards ones of the camp grounds. Down the way you’ll see a viewing tower (closed currently due to COVID), to your left there’s a parking lot perfect to set up your tripod or telescope.

Nice atv trails, lots of whoops and some good curves. I’ve been coming here for about 6 years and the trails have improved a lot. Only an hour drive from Chicago which is convenient. You need a vehicle sticker and a trial pass if you’re coming from Illinois. The sand track is nice but short. Loop 1 is more of a dusty hard pack trail with whoops, they also have mud/ rock crawl turn offs. Loop 2 is more of a dirt trail, but it rarely open.
