I moved to the valley and still drive to the west side for the this butcher. Really friendly, lots of variety so we can try making different stuff like pork belly or leg of lamb, and has some cool house-made stuff like beef bacon and sausages which are really good. Sandwiches are supreme.

Kudos to A Cut Above in Santa Monica. My favorite butcher. Purchased duck ragu so no need cook during the HEAT. Made soft polenta and a crunchy boule. Quite tasty.

We purchased prime Filets for Christmas. The cut and flavor were exceptional. The four pieces we got were as good as any piece of meat you get at a high end steakhouse and in some instances better. They know a cow inside and out and can walk you through getting the exact cut you want. Delivery with Covid was perfect, pull up, give name, get meat. And this was on a busy, rainy day. The price was inline with any quality grocery store or other butcher and the cuts were better. The rest of the family was amazed how good they were and we all agreed we would rather enjoy these steaks at home than go out. Quick research online tells you exactly how to prepare them which also helped. Olive oil in a skillet, pepper and COARSE salt on the outside. The salt will dissolve during cooking and helps with the outer sear. 5 minutes each side then but some butter on top and into a 450 oven for 3-7 minutes depending on how you like it finished. Can't wait to go back and am grateful to Cut Above for making a tough Christmas a real treat.

I highly recommend. I'm just glad I got to try it once before my undergrad was finished and I have to move back to the Bay. Right now, I could really use some of their food right now. I will definitely try to visit once everything blows over. MISS YOU LOTS A Cut Above Butcher Shop!!

Amazing brined whole chickens. It’s tied perfectly, seasoned and ready to go out of the cellophane Brushed the skin with a bit more olive oil then put it on the grill. 4lb bird. 30 min w the outside burners on high and the 2 inside on low for 450 degree temp Then turned off middle burners and put outside on medium for 325-350 for 45 minutes longer Let rest 15-20 min. Perfect crispy skin. Incredible flavor dark to light meat. Sweet from the brine like dessert. Incredibly tender and juicy Perfection!
