What? Why did this place close? I had a blast tubing down the river last year. I thought 15 was a reasonable price, and the staff seemed really friendly and helpful, despite what the other reviewers have said. Can anybody recommend another place in the area which rents out tubes?

The river was a lot of fun, and I recommend trying river tubing, but not with these guys. We went on a trip we were told is TWO hours, and that the van will wait for us when we get out. After just ONE hour and 15 minutes we were surprised to find out that we've reached the end, so we were disappointed from the short trip, and went to the parking lot to wait for the van. We waited for 45 minutes (in the rain) until the guy got there, and then it took another 20 minutes to load up the tubes before we started heading back. We ended up spending more time on getting back to their location then actually floating in the water... Price was also higher then what was posted in their website (was 15/ea, where for 10/ea you get a lesser tube), and generally a high price for this short trip (other places advertise 2-hour trips for less than 15). When we finally got back, we complained about the trip being too short and waiting for way too long to get back, and all the guy had to say was that we probably just missed the previous shuttle because they run loops... We find it hard to see how a single loop takes more than 45 minutes. My recommendation, buy your own tube at the nearby Walmart for 10-15 and go out on your own.
My husband and I are Ferris alumni and we visited Big Rapids this past weekend to see a friend. We were really happy that Sawmill will still allow you to pump your own tube and use their river access for just 3 a tube.
