Our daughter has been coming here for nearly two years, doing voice and then adding guitar. Rick is great to work with on guitar and we really appreciated the quick turnaround Rick did to backfill the voice teacher with a high quality replacement. The school has also been very flexible with in person or distance lessons, too.

I really enjoy my guitar and voice lessons at the St. Paul School of Music! I have taken guitar lessons at the School for about 2.5 years and I took about 6 months of vocal lessons this year. The instructors are very friendly and encouraging. They favor a somewhat self-guided learning approach which as worked well for me as a young professional. Rick, who I take guitar lessons with, knows a ton about guitar and music. I feel like he could teach me anything I want to know. He has fun stories to share during lessons to keep them interesting and makes good connections between topics to help me understand. I took 6 months of voice lessons this year with Kennedy to "jumpstart" my singing. I had never taken voice lessons before and found the idea of singing in front of someone kind of frightening, but I felt very comfortable working with her. She was very positive and easy to talk to, which made it a great experience.

I've been taking guitar lessons from Rick at St. Paul School of Music for almost a year now. He is incredibly knowledgeable about all facets of the instrument and can teach any style with ease at whatever level you are coming in at. There are no attitudes here, just teachers who want you to be as good as you can be. He has helped me solve a lot mysteries and misconceptions I had about the instrument and in turn has helped my guitar playing improve rapidly. I'd recommend the St. Paul School of Music without hesitation to anyone at any level interested in playing a musical instrument.

Her lessons have now moved to the virtual platform and she is still making progress and most importantly, still liking to play. We appreciate the efforts to continue her instruction virtually. Rick is a phenomenal teacher as well as an accomplished guitar player. As a former guitar teacher myself, I fully appreciate when someone is able to teach outside the box, bringing the many tangents of music together during a lesson. Technique, theory, history, knowledge, tone, and the joy of making your guitar sound really good. It has been a pleasure working with him. Wherever you want to go with music, Rick can definitely take you there.
