I came home late in the afternoon via a car arranged by Devoted Guardians on May 31, 2019. On Sat. June 1 the home health nurse Jill, made her 1st visit to me for assessment. During the assessment, Jill determined that I need some help since I still did not have physical strength need to lift my legs into bed. Jill made a phone call and Devoted Guardians made arrangements for in-home help for Sat Sunday. On Monday Jessamine from DG came to my home to talk to me about my needs, explain their capabilities and the billing structure. I had a caregiver for 2 hours every night from that time forward until I canceled the service as no longer needed. Megan & Maria were the two in-home caregivers who assisted me. They helped me with everyday activities such as laundry, doing dishes, vacuuming and other light cleanings. Since I was unable to get in out of bed using a walker, they even picked up prescriptions and did grocery shopping for me. One of the things I most looked forward to was just talking to each of them every morning. I was not very mobile at this point so I was pretty isolated at my home. Another service I used several times was transportation to a doctor’s appointment because of my mobility issues, the transporter sent to take me to my appointments were chosen based on the vehicle they drove. The first caregiver was in a very small sedan but after the difficulty, I had to get into and out of the sedan, DG made arrangements to send a larger vehicle. The transporters were very friendly and very careful drivers. They were willing to stay with me in the doctor’s office or wait in the waiting room if that was my preference. With the help of the people as well as Cindy, physical therapies, I was able to focus on recovering from my unexpected major surgery am now back to work 6 months after my surgery. I will definitely suggest DG to friends if they need home health and/or non-medical services in the future. Susan R
