Can you imagine a more difficult job than caring for the aged, sick or injured? Well, I can't, but these past two weeks I witnesses the best care one could ever hope for. Following emergency abdominal surgery at the wonderful Jupiter Medical Center, my wife , Molly Burns, was transferred to The Gardens Court rehabilitation facility in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where she received constant professional care at every level: medical, nursing, dietary, physical and occupational rehabilitation, administrative and all other aspects of running such an establishment. Christine Smith, director of Nursing, and her entire staff could not have been more caring and helpful in working together to bring my wife of 60-years back to health and independence. The Burns family is extremely grateful. Edward J. Burns

The Gardens Court is like the Ritz Carlton compared to most Nursing homes. I say most, but not all. Nursing homes in general all have some issues...spend some time in one and you will see why...it's a challenging people care business. Most have staffing issues and it has to do with what's available in the area. I recently left another Nursing home which was more like a prison hospital with CNA's that behaved like correction officers. The Gardens Court in Palm Beach Gardens is clean and nicely decorated/furnished with a wonderful, professional and caring staff. From management to services personnel, everyone has been great to deal with, PLUS they take extra attention to providing activities to keep people involved. It is far from perfect....but a major improvement. Did I mention it's tough getting old...and even tougher when nobody cares.

I'm sharing my experience based on the phone call I just had. Note to the wise when a family member is calling to find out why, when and how come things are going on with regards to family... things that should never be said are the following; 1..I know the young ladies on the floor they are so nice, 2...I just don't understand why it would happen! I could go on and on about the lack of common sense I just listened to on the other end of the phone. A simple I'm sorry would've done great but that didn't happen! I will be calling again on Monday to speak with someone that can help instead of telling me how great the people are. Also I don't need to know that your parents are staying at the facility either. The truth of the matter is if your parent's are (admission director) staying there, everyone that is attending to them would be on there best behaviour since you're in management. You telling me that was crazy(I simply said if you're parent's are having problems I hope that you would call to figure it out)....AGAIN LACK OF COMMON SENSE

Their negligence finished him off in a most horrible way. Most of the problems traced back to the uncaring gross incompetence of Valerie Valentine, the case manager Probably actionable. It's a story to explain how bad things are there, hard to find that many burnt-out people in one place, but the social worker sitting in her office with her slurpee and casual attitude while doing things that make things worse is just disgraceful.
