Love this place! They've been one of the few places I've gone INTO during covid-19, since they reopened. I always go to the back bar, mostly for their great happy hour deals. The menu has been revamped over the last several months. The tacos are . Tables are well spaced. People have been responsible with masking.

Fantastic French fries, a neat atmosphere, and friendly, if not readily available staff. Bottomless mimosas, and a neat bloody Mary bar are available. Another plus, it never seems too busy.

By lots of my neighbors this supposed to be the best restaurant, been here once and totally have no idea why

I feel their is two different experiences at the Islander. The Restaurant and the Bar in the back. While most times walking into the front, I've noticed no hostess at the podium to greet us. We opt out anyways and walk right past the restaurant into the back for the Bar. We personally don't know if happy hours happen in the restaurant but we like the tv's and the atmosphere in the Bar - oh did I mention happy hour!? Not many places on Mercer have good happy hours but the Islander knocks off a buck or so per item to actually feel like it's worth it. The truffle fries are probably our all time favorite where the pulled pork sandwich comes in close second. Having said all that, one thing is you need to be assertive in The Islander. I can understand why people say "it takes forever for someone to give service" as I am one of those people that will wait patiently forever. But with how busy this place can get with a small staff and kitchen; your best bet is to flag them down because they can't always do their steps. To counter the small staff and kitchen - food comes out amazingly quick. Even at its most packed times, 10-15 minutes max after ordering food.

So happy that they are open. Great service and love to see a local restaurant still around.

Great ambience and location however the service is always at best mediocre and inconsistent. Food is in the most part excellent. You just need to be able to go with the flow in terms of the service, you'll never know what you'll get. Get your own water while you wait to get served other times, it's spot on. Not knocking it or promoting it, it is what it is, could be spectacular with a little bit more effort. Convenient for those on the island.

3 pitchers of Coors light and a Jameson cost me 83. I don't know what happened. People kept saying "Welcome to Mercer island". If it was Iraq I'd understand. But somehow Mercer island justifies this. I'm not from here so maybe I don't understand it.
