Friendly people, amazing music. Chatted with the promoter for Sunday night Soul Night. He goes around Portland finding the best musicians in the city and gives them a place to do their thing. Would highly recommend checking it out for some of the best live music acts in town.
Not too large for excellent, intimate jazz and not too small- perfectly dark, simple and great sound
The Jack London Review is in the Rialto Pool Hall, where it occupies the bottom floor. The bottom floor is self-contained and self-sufficient, meaning that it has its own bar, restrooms, etc., so you'll not have to leave once you're down there. I've seen several shows here, and the layout, stage height, and PA system are all great. Please be sure to bring earplugs, though, as oftentimes, the sound engineer turns it up way too loud. There are many parking garages immediately in the area, so parking is generally never an issue.
