After fifty years of not participating in organized religion, I’ve been thrilled to make UUCSS my spiritual home for the past eight years. My wife, daughter and I came to UUCSS for a particular reason: because they are committed to access for Deaf people and my family is Deaf. To my knowledge they are the only conjuration in the DC area with consistent, high quality ASL interpreting for not only church services, but all events. Once we started attending we were hooked. Once I saw that the sermon - and the entire service- brought tears to my eyes, I realized how much I’d been missing that sense of connection. Since then I’ve been constantly impressed by the way in which UUCSS lives its commitments: from fund-raising events, like the annual auction, that focus on shared experiences rather than material objects, to rich religious education and the integration of multiple generations into services, I’m reminded again and again why I love UUCSS.

I have been a member since 2015 and this has been such a warm, welcoming place for me and my family. The RE program is outstanding and has been a joy for our kids to experience. The music program is also top notch and even got me up on stage a few times. Come on by and say hi!
