I had respect for this school until now. A black female Counselor/Registrar by the name of Melinda Jones, she did nothing but make it difficult to keep my daughter enrolled, my daughter is a A/B honor student, never caused any problems whatsoever. I did hear through other parents that she did help them with the same issue I was dealing with, they just don't know why she chose not to help us. I'm pretty sure skin color played a significant role. As they were the race as she was, including the office staff. It's self explanatory, she also threatened to have my daughter removed sooner if she didn't provide the necessary documents. All she spoke about the tome i was thete was how successful her family members are and rewarding careers they landed. She belongs in a Dallas School. Mesquite does not deserve these type of counselors. Sadly I have to click on one star to leave this review, they don't deserve one. This is our generation being rejected by our school system.

My 2 oldest kids attend this school... this year is their first year here.. they came from a charter academy.. and they love it here... Vanston has done so.much for them as far as academics go compared to their old school. My children said if they could they would go to vanston forever.. and that says a Lot for a couple of teenagers.
This school is ok. But it was very hard coming from another school because the students and teachers dont really look out for each other. And most of the teachers just are there to get a paycheck it is some teachers that will make sure that you are learning but not really. The school is not really that clean either.
SCHOOL IS LIT Af dress code is even better than most schools
