My mother recently passed away. At the end, she was under hospice care with Kindred. Every single person I dealt with at Kindred was kind, helpful, and compassionate. This was an especially difficult time for our family, because my mother had been hiding her cancer for the past year. We went from thinking we had another decade or more with her, to saying goodbye within the space of a single month. I honestly don't know what I would have done without the nurses and social worker from Kindred. Learning that they provide support for the family as well as the patient, and that these services would be available up to a year following our loss, was an unexpected blessing. The social worker came during that last day and sat with us as we told stories about my mother and did our best to come to grips with what was happening. I can't speak highly enough of these people. They treated my mother with dignity. The skilled nursing facility she'd been in was dismissive and cold with her. She was miserable and afraid there. When we brought her home and Kindred took over, she was comfortable and free of anxiety for the first time in weeks. She passed quietly, with no fear. That's what Kindred did for us, and it means more than I can say.

Kindred entered our lives when my ex husband entered hospice on Saturday July 6th. The entire staff, Jill RN, the on call nurse, Stephanie LMSW and Christy RN , along with her aide..(I am sorry I can't remember her name) were so kind to not only my ex, but to my son and myself. The answering service was compasstionate and all calls were answered quickly. Although our time was brief, he died July 10th, I would recommend to anyone needing end of life care, to consider Kindred.

Losing a loved one is so very difficult but the care and compassion of this company made the loss of my brother bearable. The professional care was topnotch but more importantly, the tenderness, mercy and respect shown to him and our family could not have been better. My brother was allowed to pass away on his own terms and that could not have been accomplished without his care team. We will be forever grateful for everything they did for us and would highly recommend them to any family dealing with the imminent death of a loved one.

I have so many mixed emotions about this agency, they offer great pallative care, great supplies like chucks pads, diapers, wipes, have great nurse aides. Unfortunately I received a bad nurse who wasn't very experienced in my opinion. I had a bad experience with a nurse named Beth. After a air mattress deflated overnight my mom started having a dark spot on her bottom, we reported this several times over the course of a week to Beth and Beth never mentioned to us that it was a pressure ulcer or for us to start shifting her from side to side every two hours until the ulcer heals. Beth instead just ignored the pressure ulcer tell us that's it's ok or fine. With that being said my moms dark spot got worse and ended up being a Stage IV necrotic pressure ulcer, she was hospitalized and needed surgery. Not once since this issue happened did anyone ever reach out to us from kindred in regards to how she was doing or recovering. Beth wasn't very knowledgeable either when it came to wound care during the time she was our nurse she never really managed my moms pressure ulcer, on her heel and she wouldn't bring or order adequate supplies from 3-4-17 to 3-16-17 no wound care supplies had ever been ordered. Beth was also very defensive, wouldn't bring her own supplies like gloves, and would constantly use are resources. I've been with two other hospices since this issue and not one offers the same type of pallative care that kindred offered. I would like to have my mom return and perhaps get a better nurse than Beth, but for some reason I can never get through to Kindred's 512-651-9227 number.
