Wonderful stop for a quick visit, (but if you're in a hurry, then skip it). Informative & little museum on the 2nd floor provides the history of the State Capitol building. A neat little gift shop, and travel center with brochures for all of Texas. (Restrooms too.) No food or drink allowed. Great place to cool down too!

THE STEEL SHOP

Wonderful building with lots of Texas history. Worth a look. Took the guided capital tour. Its FREE.

It was a really nice visitors center. Everyone there was nice and friendly. But like most things in the u.s. they don't have much in the way of American made things. Even the things with the Texas flag were made in China. It would be nice if they would sell nothing as opposed to that kind of stuff. And in a state this big you would think they could find some locally sourced things.
