We’ve bought two Cavachons from Keely 5 years apart. Both have been great dogs. Our kids have allergies so we wanted to make sure they could tolerate a dog. Keely let us bring the puppy into our car and play with it as long as we wanted. The kids seemed fine, so we bought it. Our older dog looked more like the Bichon in her and she shed minimally. We went back to get a second dog (5 years later) so the older dog had a friend when we were busy. Our younger dog looks more like the the cavalier and we don’t notice any shedding. They have been wonderful dogs. Great for a young family. We have always been very satisfied with the service and dogs from Ballyhara.
We had been shopping for a LONG time (like over 2 years) before we finally decided on using Ballyhara to adopt our puppy. We definitely did NOT want to buy from a puppy mill and had a near miss earlier this year, so we were being very cautious. Talking to Keely at Ballyhara was easy and comfortable. She answered all my questions and was very informative. But the true clincher was going to their farm and meeting her and the puppies. They have a nice, clean facility, and beautiful dogs. I was very impressed by how well behaved the adult dogs were, as well as the energetic, playful pups. It was VERY clear that the puppies were used to being handled and were extremely comfortable and content in her arms. We debated over three cavachon puppies; but in the end, a little boy who, after playing for a while, calmly rolled onto his back when Keely picked him up and promptly fell asleep stole our heart. Keely helped us pick out a dog with a calm temperament that would have all the characteristics of a good emotional support dog. I have to say, two months later, I have not been disappointed. Never in my life have I owned a dog that has been so easy. He was already crate trained when we got him, and he has continued to love his crate from the first day. He is light hearted and spirited, but (even at this young age) incredibly intuitive and an all star snuggler! He also is highly intelligent and motivated to please. After two months, he already knows how to come, sit, and lay down (as well as being potty trained). He, of course, has normal chewing issues which we are working with; but I’ve never had such a wonderful animal. I would highly recommend using Ballyhara as a breeder. Thank you Keely for our happy little Toby Tucker!
After loosing my dog tragically I did a lot of research about what breed I wanted next. I had a Cavalier King Charles and loved the breed but hated the shedding and my kids had allergies to dogs. So I thought a cavachon would be a great compromise. I called Keely and had a long conversation with her and told her exactly what I was looking for and wanted in a dog. She said, “they do not shed like a King Charles.” They shed a little like a poodle but if I held the dog I would not be covered in hair like I was when I would hold my CKCS. I confirmed and reconfirmed this with her. I scheduled a time to come look at the puppies. When I was there she had scheduled another family to look at the same 2 I was interested in. I didn’t have time to really play and get a feel for which one I had a connection and felt pressured to make a decision so I didn’t loose out on getting a puppy. Fast forward months after getting the dog. She sheds! Past the puppy stage, she still sheds. I called and acted like I was interested in a new puppy and asked again “do they shed like a King Charles?” her answer “NO” When I called her and confronted her (very upset because of course myself and my young kids are super attached) she had NO REMORSE! Her solution was to bring her back and replace her! Which to me is so cold hearted. I paid FULL PRICE for a dog I was told wouldn’t hardly shed, that we got super attached to and that’s it?? Trade her in? Replace her? Don’t say I’m sorry she isn’t what I said she would be and offer SOMETHING BACK if I didn’t want to trade her in?! I have 2 friends that are veterinarians and they both said that’s a bad breeder. I also know of someone who got a dog from her about a year after. Theirs doesn’t shed like mine but thought she was not a very personable breeder. We still have our dog. I love her but if I knew I’d have a dog that shed, I would’ve bought a Cavalier King Charles spaniel !!! Do your research!!!!
Great service, very personable, professional. Great overall experience.
