My mother has been in Shenandoah Center for over a year. She initially went in for rehab following a fall that required surgery for a brain bleed. She had been living with my husband and I, and I’d been her caregiver for years. It was so hard to leave her in a new place, but the staff went out of their way to make mother and me feel comfortable. From the therapy department, nursing staff, activities staff..all were wonderful! We had to make the hard decision to transition her to skilled nursing care there and not bring her back home. As hard as this time with the quarantine has been, I’m so thankful she’s been at Shenandoah. The administration and all the staff have been wonderful to go out of their way to keep the residents engaged and the families informed. My mother has dementia, so it’s not easy for them, but they have been so loving and understanding with mother. I’ve had peace of mind knowing she’s loved and well cared for there.

With visitation closed or limited since March due to COVID-19, this has been a difficult time. My mother is an amputee and a long-term memory care resident at Shenandoah Center. During her time there, she has recuperated from both the amputation and a surgery. Before the pandemic, I visited Mom multiple times weekly and was on-site to participate in many of her daily activities with her. I am thankful that since COVID, the staff has encouraged window visitation and, now, outdoor visitation that allows continued frequent interaction with Mom. They, also, provide opportunities to Zoom with Mom (who was assisted with the technology). Mom adapted to these changes pretty quickly and, in no small part, thanks to the caring staff who implemented these visits. Shenandoah Center has been transparent by providing weekly Zoom updates (from the director, social worker, rehab/OT, nursing, recreation, and many others on staff) to update families on protocols and services that are occurring at this time. The entire staff has been professional, informative, understanding, and responsive during this time. No facility is absolute perfection, but the folks here are healthcare heroes and have always heard and responded to Mom’s needs and my concerns. Thanks to all and know you are appreciated.

place is a great place has a great staff has a few tweaks but they are working them out as they go because of the covid-19 and new people joining their team from different places. On the best side we have activities such as bingo n arts n crafts on different days. they take great care of everyone and treat you like you are their family.

These health care professionals took very good care of me from July 2019 until February 2020. They were not perfect but they always tried even with staffing and other problems. Overall, given the circumstances they provided exceptional services from nursing aides, to physical therapists, laundry techs, to food service workers. I hope they are all doing well, they are all wonderful, caring people. Love Tom R
