I just had a little thing that needed fixing, they did it right then and there. Probably took 10 minutes (very fast) and they didn't charge me anything. Really a classy small town bike shop move, not something you'd get at performance or mikes. They definitely just got another loyal customer.

Great shop with a terrific sales staff and killer mechanics.

In general I have had great experiences at Cognition, but recently I had an experience that was pretty terrible. I called to ask about a part and the person on the line told me to bring my equipment by and they would see if they had what I needed. When I got there I was told that the part I was looking for "didn't exist," and that what I was asking for was impossible. I am an elite cyclist and I know my bike, so it was pretty shocking to be talked down to about my equipment. Instead of lecturing me about the part, I would have preferred a simple "I'm sorry we don't carry that here." In general mechanics have a reputation for being scary and condescending, even for people, like myself, who know quite a bit about bikes. I am sorry to report that this was my experience at Cognition, and hope that it doesn't happen to others!

Not just air, but also care. I recently visited this store for a tire service, where I purchased a pair of specialized tires and tried to install them myself on my diverge but not able to properly seat the bead. I took the bike to the technician, he took a glance and said 10 minutes. What? 10 minutes are you kidding? It took me three nights and still not working! But I let him take the bike anyway, and just waited outside. After some time, he appeared, with both tires properly installed, in 10 minutes. Wow it was perfectly installed without any bulging or imbalance, I should have taken my bike to my LBS earlier. I cannot be thankful enough so I offered to pay him for the 10 minutes of labor, but the technician mentioned all I got was air, it was for free. I wanted to say, this is not just air I got, this is care. Thank you cognition cyclery.

I recently transported a bike from Los Angeles and forgot the front skewer there. I went to the shop's service department. A very tall gentleman helps me out and gives me a used skewer. I ask him if I can pay for it. He thinks a bit and says 'maybe 5 bucks in the tip jar'. I had a 10 bill. I give it to him and thank him profusely. He is super happy and very friendly. Definitely coming back again.

These guys are fantastic. They weren’t taking repair jobs due to a covid backlog, yet they still took a few minutes to give me a quick consult. And then when it might be a 10 minute fix, they took the time to test it out (and wound up fixing it). If I were in their shoes, it would’ve been easy to just say “leave your bike and will try and get to it in two weeks.” So I really appreciate them taking a few minutes to help me out like this. They have my business now.

Cognition has been incredibly helpful with all my bike related needs before, during, and hopefully after this pandemic is over. The mechanics are diligent and friendly, sales people are genuinely helpful and knowledgable, and the quality of the service work they do is top notch. I wouldn't trade Cog for any shop on the peninsula. I have bought bikes here, fixed bikes here, and even had them manage warranties due to defects from the manufacturer. And for all those people complaining about lack of stock or not being allowed in the store, we are in the middle of a pandemic! Bikes and bike parts supply lines have been getting hammered by all of us consumers! So have some patience please, it's not any one shop's fault. They are also slammed on service requests, it's not easy stuff and it takes time. Finding qualified bike mechanics is hard. They are doing the best they can to keep the store clean and safe while handling unbelievable demand. I am glad to call Cog my home shop and will continue to do all bike related servicing there!
