Good for kids
A magnificent Fire Tower built by the CCs in the 1930s. There is a beautiful view of lake Russell on a clear day but bring your own lawn chairs as there is nowhere to set other than one bench on the top of the mountain.

This is a cool pit stop if you’re in the area. It’s not open and there is no parking area (you park along the side of the road). The view of the lake is nice but be careful with kids and older family members when walking up the side walk to the tower (it’s uneven stone). Otherwise enjoy!!
Cool old tower overlooking lake Russel and the valleys and mountains in-between chenocetah and curahee mountain.
This is the last stone fire tower in Georgia and is opened to the public once a year during the Big Red Apple festival hosted in Cornelia. The grounds are open all year round and though there's not much of a view from the tower, there's a spot through the trees that overlooks Lake Russel. I would definitely recommend finding the date they open the interior to visitors. Inside is like a time capsule, they even have a working Osbourne Fire Finder up top. There's parking, trashcans, and benches.
Can't see very many Christmas lights from up there
