I would like to share a recent experience I had with Humility Homes and Services. As a volunteer, I am familiar with Patti and what she and her staff do for the homeless community. A few days ago I ran into a man sitting on a bench on the bike path whom I had come across a few times. We always talked a bit as he has a cheerful disposition, but I had a feeling he was homeless. He had a bike that had a small crate attached with a bungee cord that held some clothes. He also had a backpack that he kept next to him. He would sit there for hours but asked for nothing. As we talked I decided to not just walk away to my nice, warm home but risk offending him by asking if he was warm enough and had a place to stay. He had on a coat, jeans, boots, but no gloves. He paused a bit and said , “Yes, I’m warm and I have a place to stay,” and he pointed to the left. There was a bridge that he’d been sleeping under for months. To make a long story short, after talking with him a while he relented to my calling Humility Homes and Services to see if a place could be found for him. It was 20 degrees at that point and was getting colder. Within an hour this nice man way on his way to a hotel with a warm bed and shower. He cried and asked why people were being so nice to him. I had listened to his story as we were waiting, and I was so thankful to Humility Homes for bending over backward to get him out of the cold. He didn’t deserve to be in that situation, and it’s his great desire to rise above his current life. I spoke to 3 people during this process, and I am so impressed with the compassion and kindness shown by the staff for working so quickly as I know there are many people in need of the same thing. As Patti told me: Together we can change the world!

Love working there! Patti is awesome!!! If you have \gently\ used furniture and kitchen utensils they would be greatly appreciated. Clean winter coats, ski pants, warm boots are also needed. The homeless do exist and no need to clothe them in dirty clothes, they still have their pride & dignity! Hoodies and blankets, no throws please also needed. Call Humility Homes and Services if you can do this.

No empathy. Lack the skills to deal with mental illness they will just leave them in the cold rather to work something out. Unprofessional and the workers and manager power trip and play with peoples livelihoods durning some of the most difficult times the homeless peoples lives. Someone should really do a undercover news story on this place.

Went to deliver a box of food and drinks and blankets and pillows and magazines on a late Saturday afternoon and the place was full, messy, cold and possibly one volunteer helper but I went in and out quickly. My heart goes out to all the homeless with mental issues or addiction issues and so lost.
