Clean sites, friendly staff, amazing beach, plus awesome hiking trails through the Kettle Moraine. We are really loving the new dog beach too!

First time camping at Ottawa Lake Camp Grounds. The only place open in that area year round that I am aware of. First night there was a chorus of coyote howling away. Next day was opening day of gun/deer season. I decided not to go hiking on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail that day. Just a bit too much shooting going on yet, I didn't see anyone dragging a deer out of the woods. Then Saturday night about 9:45 p.m. I heard some rapid fire pistol shots. Total silence afterwards. I'm guessing that perhaps a lone hunter was pulling a deer out of the woods and the coyotes followed the hunter. Then the hunter fire at the coyote to scare them off.
