My ma and I showed up at 9 AM on Tuesday, but no one was present. Unfortunately, we had to wait until about 10 AM to get on the river. This was partially my fault, because I did not make reservations. Other than that bit of a bumble at the beginning, it was a fantastic journey. (TLDR; Make reservations!) We canoed to the Rainbow River's headwaters, passed the Devil's Elbow (a 35' deep region of crystal-clear water... tremendous), navigated our way up a small stream, and then leisurely paddled downriver. Between the wildlife (otters, anhingas, grey herons, great white egrets, turtles, & more), the piney perfume of frost-burnt bald cypress, and the absolute quietude, it made for a truly relaxing journey. In addition to typical garb, I would recommend bringing sunglasses, hat, water (in a non-disposable vessel), and a seat cushion. Canoe and kayak seats are somewhat hard on a bony bum, and the trip varies from 2-5 hours in length. It should be noted, though, that there are 2-3 places to get out along the way.

I had an amazing experience today renting a kayak on the Rainbow River! The kayak itself was in very good shape. I got excellent advice about what kind of kayak to choose. The bus ride from the parking/rental area was a lot of fun and the trip down the river was gorgeous! Stephen was especially helpful both before and after the trip. I would absolutely recommend this! Beautiful place and really nice people!

Love it , nice drift dive. Will definitely be back. Boat ride was nice capt was vary helpful on the ride out on wild life and spring locations to see on the dive.

Very friendly and nice people who work here. We rented a kayak and got dropped off further up river and paddled down. Amazing day in a gorgeous area, and very nice and helpful service. Definitely recommend!

My sister is visiting from out of state and we made the 2 hour drive to kayak the withlacoochee today. Miscommunication between staff was quickly corrected and even though a little later than planned we were able to begin our float. Highly recommend the scenic trip! Lots of wildlife to spot. Don't forget the sunscreen and water though as it's a long hot trip with few places to stop along the way. Docked a star because the staff could be more personable and friendly. A smile and small talk go a long way. Will definitely be back again to kayak rainbow river.
