Unfortunately, over the past few years things have changed drastically for Happy Jack Lodge. Although, they have nice amenities the staff is over worked, inefficient with their time, and they rarely have things their menu says they do. They don't provide refunds even if you cancel in the allotted time. The lady at the front desk, Cersei, cannot comprehend change...her customer service skills are atrocious! They constantly change their policies on how many months you need to book to become a seasonal camper. The quiet hours start at 10 pm even on the weekends and the camp host drives around literally looking for people who are breaking the rules. This is no longer a place where you can go and just relax on the weekends; it has become a place that is run by crooked policies, overcharging, and horrible customer service.

Place is great. Cabins are nice and clean. The grounds are kept up and are very clean. Nice little store and bar and restaurant. Had the wings, let me say those were some large wings. Hot sauce was perfect. Price was as expected but the wings were more than enough for a meal. We store our trailer here and come up every other weekend to enjoy the cooler weather and wildlife that is all around here. It can get busy but we'll worth the drive from the valley to spend time with family and friends.

NOT VETERAN FRIENDLY!!! NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!!! NOTHING FRIENDLY about this place. As a recently retired Army veteran i made my first trip to this area with my family to enjoy the outdoors. Upon check-in we were NOT told that sledding wasn’t allowed on the premises. The owner then came out and literally yelled at my family and I. I was very apologetic and tried to explain to him that we were unaware of the policy. He continued to raise is voice in an aggressive manner and threaten to “escalate” things. He even took pictures of my license plate while i was explaining to him the miscommunication. I asked for a refund and he said “listen to me, get in your truck, and leave” (i have the video on my phone). I identified myself as a retired veteran in an effort to deescalate the situation because i know my 5’7” 190lb stature can be threatening (thats a joke), but then was told i was trespassing. In the end i left with my refund and a bitter taste; shocked at the blatant lack of professionalism and respect for fellow man. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

I had the most wonderful experience here at Happy Jack. I came up to go turkey hunting. Being a solo female hunter they watched out for me and made sure I was comfortable and was enjoying my stay. Thank you to all for wonderful conversations and good food. I will be back soon hopefully with a elk tag. I did leave one day early Thank you again!

Rooms are super rundown and grungy, like an old motel and it cost 120 per night. The room was not cleaned before we stayed and it was quite disturbing. There was graffiti on the walls. I have stayed here before and it has really gone down hill. Also, apparently masks and social distancing isn't a thing here.

Our first year as seasonal campers. We love it here! Everyone has been really nice and it's so nice to be out of the Phoenix heat! The camp store is great, stocked with all kinds of great stuff. My dogs love going for walks through the park and because we are on a corner, they love watching all the other dogs go by! When we first got here our spot was very uneven and we had a big dropoff right outside our trailer door. My husband asked if it would be possible to get a little rock brought it and they were kind enough to bring us some so we could really make use of our space. Very nice! We have really enjoyed the last couple of months here. And it's nice that it is close enough to Phoenix that we can go home and take care of business and then come right back up to the cool Happy Jack weather!

This was a fun and beautiful place to come have dinner or camp for the week. The staff was friendly and hunters are always welcome. Ideal area for family reunion gatherings.

Cool little place. We were camping & went in to buy ice. The store has a little bit of everything, basic foods & snacks, t shirts, jackets and camping supplies. Also a restaurant that I'm told is very good.
