Jeweler Mutual needed me to get an appraisal done for my engagement ring but I put it off like the dentist because it did not sound like fun. So color me surprise because I had a great experience and learned a lot. For an hour long, Mr. Gordon went through the entire process with me: measurements, pictures, comparisons and the charting that goes into an appraisal. I already knew history of my ring and was very delighted to watch him deduce information just by a series of microscope views. It was amazingly accurate and close to what the original gem appraisal gave me. His wife Linda met with me beforehand and explained the prices and gave me water. There was plenty of parking. I highly recommend the Judge. It almost made me want to appraise more of my jewelry but those are definitely paste....

Mr Gordon who has been in the business a long time and has seen some spectacular gems. He gave insightful information regarding my piece. Without so much as a hint he was able to date my ring. I started laughing and said, “ How did you know”? He replied , “I have seen a lot of setting in my time? “ He has an infectious humor that kept the dialogue moving. The appraisal was completed in a matter of days. It was thorough. I would recommend him to my friends. I would also return in a heartbeat. Have a question? Call him.

Went to Ben Gordon to have a moissanite engagement ring appraised after calling a number of jewelry stores who could not appraise anything other than diamonds. Because Mr. Gordon is a gemalogist he was the perfect person to appraise the ring. The total appraisal took a little less than an hour. I spent most of my time sitting in his lab/work area where he examined the ring and entered the details in to his computer/database. He answered any questions I had and also provided a little more of an education on the ring than I was expecting. He's very nice, funny, and professional.

The service is good! He is very kind and accommodating. I was late about 15 minutes, however he still allowed me to come in. He walks you through the process. He said most others just bring the ring to their “back office” and appraise it. I’m guessing this service is something they pride their business in, but I haven't have any other experience to compare this to. It might be standard protocol nowadays? The only reason why it's not more stars, is that the price. Honestly, I feel like Linda (the wife) kind of just wrote down a price and I was left with no choice but to sign it. I advise you guys to shop around before you get an appraisal. I'm sure there's cheaper around the area. One regret I didn't do, is ask for the price beforehand and shop around. I'm a student and especially during these times, it's not worth paying 250 for an appraisal on an e-ring.
