Take the ferry twice a day for work. Crew is here nearly 365 days a year. Bad or good weather, darn near up to hurricanes! Very dependable. Thanks to all the great folks on the ferry for making my commute much better!!

Although it will only save you 15 minutes at the most, it’s worth doing once. If for nothing else, to experience that section of the A1A. For a car and trailer, it cost 14. The ride across was around 3 minutes. The waiting, loading, trip, and unloading took about 20 minutes. But, it was fun, once. The parking attendant was great. He gave us a map of Amelia Island and suggested things to see on the other side.
great service
If you haven't been on a vehicle ferry, you should definitely try it. This one is very short, less than 5 minutes but it's fun I guess. I didn't know paying for a ferry was a normal thing. Compared to what I'm used to in Galveston, TX this is a bit of a downer. Still the beaches and the water here are much better. I wish they'd let you walk on the top bridge that overlooks the cars...
Excellent condition and good crew travel to the St Jhon River
Riding the ferry for us was a new experience. We drive up to Mayport just to try it. It was enjoyable to be on the water (even for just a short time). It is safe and inexpensive.
Found this ferry service by accident and what a blessing it turned out to be! You can take your car or bike over to Amelia Island for 7 each way and it runs every half hour! You save 45 minutes instead of driving on 95. The ride across takes about 11 minutes!
Found this little gem while exploring around Jax beaches. Food is amazing! The fresh fish market looks just as amazing. We will be back for sure.
