Loved! Really cool experience. Tower is closed due to covid however still worth it! Greeted warmly, our dogs were allowed to roam off leash on the property and in the boulder park. Really neat boulders, sculptures and caverns. The dogs loved it! And we did as well. 3.50 per person cash or PayPal.

This historic tourist trap has a long history of capitalizing on its location. People back then had to let their cars cool down for a little while and the owner would charge them high prices for food. AKA “Highway Robbery”. The Desert View Tower was built on the most western edge of Imperial County in 1920 by Bert Vaughn, a wealthy land developer from San Diego as a getaway for his buddies.

Desert View Tower and Boulder Park is one of those very cool, eclectic places to take the kids, or even first dates if you want to impress ;) There are creature sculptures carved into the boulders and relatively easy pathways through the stony mountainside. The tower itself is closed for now, but the hiking and views down into the Imperial Valley desert are very rewarding. Just off I-8 before it drops down into the desert.

I finally made it to the tower when there was no hi speed winds! Really neat place to visit, with a lot of history. Gift shop has too much stuff, I wanted it all! The short hike through the carved rocks is amazing in that it must have taken a LOT of time to carve. BTW, it's all for sale, just write a check for 2.1 mil!

Saw this place on California Gold and thought we would check it out. It's such a beautiful place with lots of trails and caves for kids and adults. Painted and carved rocks that look like animals are pretty cool to see.
