I don’t believe Hector is rude, I take his manner as wanting to manage expectations. Every time I go in he tells me he doesn't’ know if he can fix/clean/save... and he always does. For that I’m grateful. And you know, no, he’s not warm and welcoming. He’s a one person shoe repair ship open 2 days a week. He does his job well, and is no nonsense. And if you’re up for it ask Him about his children. See him light up! Have a light and generous attitude, and if you need your shoes repaired, he can do it. 4 stars only because he isn't open more and doesn't take credit cards. A small price to pay for his central location.

Horrible service and the owner was extremely rude. I watched him belittle the lady in front of me while I waited my turn. She asked him questions that I thought were reasonable about repairs she wanted on several boots and he laughed and said he could not help her on several pairs. When it was my turn, I asked if he could repair the soles of my dress shoes and he said he could patch it with rubber over the worn section. I stated "I assume you will do the other one to match as well?" and he responded by laughing and saying several rude things and said "You and that last stupid lady.... What are they teaching in schools these days?" Sir, I'm in my mid 30's and know nothing about shoe repair. All I wanted to know is if it was worth the repair or just to go buy a new pair. I am educated and do very well in life. You will not get my business and I hope the lady before me doesn't support you anymore as well. This shop does not deserve your business. I did find a nice place down the road next to Sweet Frog who was happy to help.

Hector did a phenomenal job repairing my boots once the heel began to wear down badly recently. Moreover, he was very patient. I had to keep my boots at his shop for nearly a month after dropping them off for repair because of travel and moving homes. My only qualm with his repair is that the machine used to cut the excess rubber of the heel removed some of the stain from the heel. He remedied this by using similar colored polish, but it is still slightly noticeable. Personally, I like the aesthetic, but I also acknowledge this could have been mitigated with just a little more attention to detail. Personally, I am very happy with his repair, but I must be objective, as well as considerate of things other consumers may not appreciate. Regarding his personality, which I have seen reviews that mention it in a bad light before, just be cool. Truly, Hector is a great guy, but like anyone else, he doesn't respond well to client's who are anxious, nervous, ignore his instructions, or second-guess his skill with probing questions. He was all smiles from the time I dropped off my shoes to the time I picked them up again.
