The sunburned nose solution I've been searching for! \u003c3 My paint mare has a sensitive nose that is always getting sunburned in the summer. Turning her out only at night isn't an option for multiple reasons. Zinc oxide cream helps protect her nose, but I can't get out there every day to reapply it. I have tried different styles of long nose fly masks but she won't keep them on for more than a day or two even with a halter over them to help them stay in place. I stumbled upon Nag Horse Ranch's nose shields on Etsy and although I had some doubts I decided to give one a try anyway. Wow, am I glad I did! The nose shield is very well made and sturdy, fits my mare PERFECTLY with her breakaway halter, doesn't interfere with her eating or drinking and protects her entire nose. I put it on her a week ago and she still had it on yesterday when I went out to see her. I couldn't be happier. Two thumbs up!

I ordered the fly mask with the full nose piece. I was very excited to find a product that had such high UV protection for my horse. However my horse only wore the fly mask for a week! The nose piece tore half way off the mask. I contacted the company in regards to this. Sue, the owner, defended her mask, materials, and workmanship and basically suggested maybe my horse was not used to the mask yet, and that she was so glad the mask gave way so he wasn’t injured. Sue, offered to repair the mask, but I had to pay for the repair, 20 plus the cost to ship it to her. When I expressed my disappointment in this, she again defended herself saying her offer was so generous since she would have to use her time and materials to repair the mask and ship it back to me. I paid over 100 for this mask, plus an additional 35 for a mask for my horse’s bridle. Terrible customer service! I would not recommend doing business with this company.

I have a horse with a very white face, he burns easily. The white surrounds one of his eyes, skin cancer is a huge concern with horses that have face markings like my horse has. My horse is Houdini when it comes to removing fly masks. It is expensive to keep a horse in a stall, it is more healthy for horses to live outside. It is not healthy for my white faced horse outside without sun protection. Until I found this company I had not found a company that specializes in sun shades for horses that double as fly masks, but rather I found many companies that specialized in fly masks that doubled as sun shades. The mask I purchased was the high brow mask (to keep off of the eyes) with the nose coverage without ears. The owner was very helpful when helping me choose a size for my 3 year old gelding who still wears a 2 year old show halter. I really like the mask for lots of reasons. Reason number 1, my mischevious 3 year old cannot get it off. Reason number 2, the quality is amazing, I would be impressed if my (naughty) horse managed to rip it. Reason number 3, the sun protection is extensive, 90% UV blocking mesh that covers his face and goes around his nose to protect the sides too, not just a flap over the top. Are these masks a little pricey? Yes. To me they are worth every single penny, if I had a herd of white faced horses I would buy these in bulk. Cheap fly masks that my horse easily removes/demolishes are completely useless and a waste of the 15-30 dollars I spend on them. Take a chance on this small company, you will not regret it.

Good Morning - I just wanted to contact you to tell you how pleased I am with your face shade! My Paint, Hawk, has a very sensitive, very pink face. He would get sunburn so badly every summer that he developed squamous cell carcinoma on his nose a few years ago. Like most other people with pink-skinned horses, I tried every fly mask and contraption I could find to protect him, but nothing worked quite right. They either didn't offer enough protection, laid directly on his nose and annoyed him, or were ill-fitting and inhibited his eating. He hated having them on and would blow constantly to get them out of his way, which made the nose piece muddy and gross, which made his nose muddy and gross, which exacerbated the irritations caused by the squamous cell. It was an exhausting and discouraging cycle! Then I found Nag Horse Ranch, and I am not exaggerating when I say this mask changed my life (and Hawk's)!! I bought the full face shade with sheepskin and the stiff brow band, and it was worth every cent! This mask is meticulously designed - it's as if you read my mind and fixed all the problems I've had with previous masks. The flared nose design doesn't lay on his face and allows him to eat freely, so he doesn't mind wearing it, and the brow band keeps the material well away from his eyes. It's also holding up really well - I had problems in the past with masks tearing so easily that I was buying two or three every year, but Hawk wears this mask pretty much every day, and it's still in good shape after three months. Most importantly, I'm thrilled to report that he's had no more sunburn, and the squamous cell carcinoma is much improved! Our vet even looked at him last week and said the face shade is working really well! Thank you so much for designing this great product! I've attached a picture of Hawk happily wearing his mask Thank you! Rachel & Hawk

I ordered and returned 3 flymasks. They did not fit my horse. I did not order thru the website as it was not working properly according to the owner. I spoke each time to Sue, the owner, and she never mentioned a re-stocking fee to me and kept suggesting I try different sizes. I spent @ 78 and was credited @ 43. I do not recommend dealing with this company.
