My boyfriend worked here for one single day and had to leave mid shift. He was never told what to do the entire shift, and if he was told something it was in a language that he could not understand. And if he asked to get a translation they refused. The people who were there the longest were also using unsafe methods to transport materials, and tools; throwing them across the yard without looking, tossing materials behind them without looking, and many more things like this. Knife river, from what I’ve heard, is a great company, but the experience my boyfriend had today has tainted my view of knife river forever. Knife River Harrisburg is in desperate need of change, otherwise it will continue to taint the good name of Knife River.

I was the first truck there and still had to wait 2 hours to get unloaded

Interesting place. Liked to watch the dirt and rocks climb up the conveyor belt. A bit noisy.

Worked there a few weeks. Was put on 3 different crews while there. While on 2 crews it was a nightmare. Couldn't understand any directions and they were rarely given. Crews were predominately or compleately latino. All communication was given in Spanish and they went out of their way to let me know I was not welcome. I wasn't even told when & where to be the next day. This continued the whole time I was there. I'm a good worker with skills and not accustomed to being treated like I don't belong. Learned something about discrimination though. That it goes both ways. Low pay for skilled work.
