Hot Shot Muffler is a hidden gem located in such a hip part of Highland Park. I’ve been to many events here including musical performances, photo shoots and even a baby shower and an engagement party. I photographed some portraits of musicians here as well using their industry standard studio lighting and equipment. (Such a help to have that already in-house!) Each time I’ve been to Hot Shot Muffler the space has transformed itself into a completely new creative space created specifically for the event/shoot. The possibilities are endless here as the large space is customizable. Bonus points for being super Covid friendly and having a giant roll-up garage door allowing for fresh air all day. Love the space and will be back again and again!

Hot Shot Muffler is a true gem of a studio - The studio management is so easy to work with and want to set you up for success with your production's needs. Loading in is a dream! It's so easy to drive directly up to the garage door to load in and park multiple cars in the lot. The space is unexpectedly huge with an industrial-style feel and tall ceilings. Although I rented before COVID-19, it also has great ventilation because of the entire garage door side of the building can be left open for additional airflow. I had 2 10ft sets up, but you could have 4 sets going, or more, with the amount of space you're working with! The fact that gear rental is an option is an added bonus. There is a comfortable client area, and the location being Highland Park in East LA is also filling a gap where there aren't any studios like this around. Its truly a no-brainer and real gem
Recently did a video shoot here and it was perfect, especially during COVID with the garage door open to keep fresh air in the place. They're equipped with everything to make it safe and productive.
THis is one of our favorite venues for shoots. The space is really versatile and the staff are brilliant. They have. aworld of gear in-house which makes a huge difference. Highly recommend for still/video/streaming gigs and anything music-related
Great spot! I've been and hosted shows and photoshoots at the HSM, very special vibes. I've made great memories there!
