One legacy preys on the grief of families who have a loved one who is in critical condition. They use high pressure techniques and could care less about the patient or the family. One legacy sees the patient as as spare parts. One legacy is immediately notified of a patients admission. The patients information is immediately given to One Legacy and they begin the process of a tissue match. One Legacy then starts to notify potential recipients of a potential organ. These people are told to start coming close to the hospital and then everyone just waits for the patient to die or the family to agree for the organs to be removed. One Legacy exploits the grief and fear of the families. One Legacy is making a lot of money off death. When a family member states “no” to donation them it needs to be left at that. Do not parade a number of staff members to pressure and wear down the family until they finally give in and agree.

All of a sudden I am getting calls from this place. They called me at 11am, 2am and 647am. I do not pick up but it messes with my sleep.

They overlooked our reservation and then they forgot my granddaughters food! The only little part of the save was the manager gave my granddaughter a dessert.

How do you give ZERO stars? This place left me a voice just a couple of hours after I lost my mother. It sounded like they were calling from the Ventura County Coroner, so of course i called right back. BIG MISTAKE. I had barely begun to start processing my loss and here were these GHOULS looking for organ / tissue donations! I was absolutely speechless and hung up. Guess what? THEY CALLED RIGHT BACK! I had to physically block my husband from taking my phone and giving them a piece of his mind. Stay AWAY from this group. They have no common decency.

They called after my husband died of a heart attack. I thought it was too late to donate, but they advised i could still give his corneas and skin. I was SO glad that i could fulfill his wishes. And the celebration they have each year is a wonderful, affirmative experience.

After a very upsetting day, I finally drift off to sleep. Just started to have a pleasant dream about my mother. Ubruptly I am woken by my phone. They had the nerve to call me and wake me at 1:25am to ask for my mothers parts. I already knew that my mother did NOT want to be a donor. I told the lady that and she felt the need to explain it to me yet two more times. Finally got back to sleep at 5! This really upset me. I have the donor sticker on my own license. Today I am taking it off!!

This review is intended to address the concern posted by another reviewer that said that OneLegacy should not waste money flying jets around the country and instead set up an account to provide donor families an annuity. While the thought of helping donor families is wonderful, providing any money or "meaningful consideration" to donor families is illegal under the Natiomal Organ Transplant Act of 1984 in US law. This is done to prevent the coercion of donors into making a decision for solely financial reasons that they could regret later. Also, OneLegacy actually doesn't fly for Organ recovery... Our team of dedicated donation professionals drive to donor hospitals 24/7/365 and most of our area transplant surgeons drive as well. When surgrons don't drive, it's because if they drive the transportaton time would be so long and the organ would no longer work when transplanted.... And their patient would die without a transplant.... Re another post... OneLegacy calls families of possible tissue donors (bone, corneas, vessels, and skin) to save and heal patients and these calls must be made and recovery begun within 24 hours of death or the donation vanity be made. This inevitably means that we must contact families at very challenging and sad times. The majority of families understand this and do choose to donate. As for "selling" the donations, sales of donated organs, eyes, and tissues is illegal in the US and around most of the world and OneLegacy does not sell any donated organs, eyes, or tissues. We are reimbursed the costs of recovery so we can pay the medical professionals who perform these life-saving recoveries for transplant. Reimbursement also covers the costs of our work to educate the public on donation in order to save more lives. I hop that this message has helped educate our community to the process, rules, and life-saving benefits from donation. Tom Mone, CEO, OneLegacy.

With all the money that is thrown around flying surgeons and staff around the country in Lear Jets and limosines like Rock Stars..... They should have enough to put some into an annuity for the family that would pay them an income for life. They sell these organs for plenty and putting 500k into an annuity that would pay the family like 3k to 4k a month forever. Now that's the RIGHT thing to do.
