Tried to order a part from Industrial Gas Springs, which Grainger is a distributor for, but because they don't stock the specific part I need they aren't allowed to special order it - despite the manufacturer saying Grainger can and does. Lady on the phone was nice, but this is a terrible policy.

I'm not a contractor, but a homeowner. I went to the website and filtered by parts that were in stock at the local Madison branch. I placed my online order before business hours. Walked in about 90 minutes after they opened. The guy nicely greeted me at the door and asked if I needed help, grabbed the part within 1 minute, and I was out. It was a very good experience, and I'd be happy to buy from there again. I was a little nervous because they said they might refuse to sell some parts to non-businesses, but I ordered a capacitor (electrical part for outside AC unit) which might have potential safety issues, and I got it fine, so I'm not sure which parts they would refuse to sell.
