Visiting the Highlands and surrounding areas was a nice break from our home in the Piedmont Triad. But the icing on the cake was being able to spend some time in Maggie Valley at the Cataloochee Ski Area, it was such a wonderful experience!! The snow was perfectly groomed, not too hard and not too wet. The staff operating the lifts were fun and very friendly plus their patience with new or inexperienced skiers was greatly appreciated (so kind when I forgot to get off \u200d️). The cost of the rentals, lift ticket, etc is extremely cost effective which made this visit the highlight of my vacation.

Finally made it to the cat after all these years. It was a packed powder day with ice on the side. Did learn something new. Just installed racks on roof of SUV and they wiggled my board around so much one of my binding screws unscrewed itself on the way there! Check your equipment people. Thankfully the gentlemen inside board rental was nice enough to let me know they possibly had the washer I needed and fixed it. Had a fun day, watched a kid fly right off the slope and into the woods. Helped him get back onto the slope too. Overall a bunch of nice people that were there as well. And it snowed.
It's a small little ski resort, great for beginners and those fairly new to the sport. We did night snowboarding on new years eve and there where no lines for the lift. Staff is very helpful. Definitely worth checking out. We will be back.
Even on a rainy day, my crew and I still had a great time! The lines were quick, masks were enforced (which for me is crucial), and the slopes were nice and smooth. I'll definitely be back next year!
Thank you for an awesome first trip to the slopes! My friends and I came to learn how to snowboard and the resort was super welcoming. Out instructor that we had for snowboarding school (Dylan), was so patient and encouraging too. All staff were friendly and willing to assist in anyway they could to make our experience enjoyable. Will definitely recommend to friends and family!
