The hostel is positioned at the brink of a quiet residential area that’s very peaceful at all hours, slept fantastic each night. big spacious rooms with high ceilings and large windows/balconies. Cool residence with a number of person! Hostel has a second smaller vicinity a bit closer to the seaside, additionally.

This is an odd hostel. There are two separate buildings: the address listed as the hostel on Google, on Washington Boulevard, where the rooms, kitchen, and bathroom are; and a residential address on Yale Avenue (7-10 minute walk) where you go to check in. I was taken to the hostel itself by way of the pickup truck of one of the British men who runs the place. This place's policy is that it takes reservations from 'international backpackers' only--however, from my experience they will take non-CA US residents with docs for future international travel. They do not print receipts for your stay. The hostel is NOT on Venice Beach--the walk from the hostel to the beach is significant and worth taking into account. You do have the option of taking an Uber/Lyft bike or scooter to the beach, but this costs (though not too much). It is also not at all near the Venice Beach boardwalk, which is where the famous Venice skateboarders, basketball hoopers, weight-lifters etc. are. Rather, it is closest to the 'posh' part of Venice, where rich people go to bars at night and eat at chic cafes and restaurants by day. They sell Tekate beer cans from the vending machine for 1.25.

The toughest part about being on the opposite coast is adjusting to the time difference. Thank goodness for the immersion kettle and selection of tea in my room! At night it helped me go to sleep and in the morning it helped me wake up! I wish more hotels would put immersion kettles in their rooms!

Highly recommend!! House and atmosphere are great, the people are wonderful, and it’s a short bike ride to the beach! Very convenient walking distance to food, stores, and public bike renting hub (5 for 24 hours) just a 1/2 block away. The beach has a wonderful multi-lane paved bike path that follows the beach from Venice all the way past Santa Monica. The hostel is located at the edge of a quiet residential area that’s very peaceful at all hours, slept wonderful every night. Large spacious rooms with high ceilings and large windows/balconies. Cool house with a lot of character! Hostel has a second smaller location a bit closer to the beach, also. Had a really great week! Thanks VBH!!

Super cozy place and offers free parking spaces! Loved it here. Building is slightly older and there aren't electric outlets next to every single bed, but there are enough in every room.

A people and service. Ian is very welcoming and the guys I met were really cool. Close to the beach and everything you need is within reach. I am still here but writing an early review because our felt appropriate. Tomorrow they are doing a 4th of July bbq for everyone. I am truly enjoying my stay here. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed here last weekend and it was simply fabulous! The only place to stay in The Venice Beach HOSTEL. We stayed in the premier suite with the bed and breakfast option so it was like a penthouse with breakfast served in the room each morning. We also had a fabulous living area and balcony. Wow!! Plus a great location in the center of all the action. Loved the The Venice Beach HOSTEL decor as well. Just a great hotel all-around!

Basically, first they "unassumingly", accepted my "payment" and reservations. And then they dropped the "small print", details of their rules and regulations. Personally in my business, before any money is agreed upon, it's most important to be straight forward, "honest " and most especially compassionate. Therefore, "not" in the least recommended . Honest review/advice, seek only truthfull businesses, otherwise you'll lose your money or perhaps even more.
