After being diagnosed with a right hip labrum tear and getting 2 recommendations for Dr. Shah from 2 physical therapists, I scheduled a consult with him. This is not a typical surgeon- he has a great bedside manner and as we got closer to surgery explained the length and type of pain I'd have and talked with me about the mental strength I'd need in addition to physical obstacles. I'll never forget how critical that was to my recovery, and everything he told me was like a mantra in my head during the recovery. I have made a full recovery and with PT, continued stretching and some basic yoga stretches, I can sit on the floor cross-legged without any pain, and was able to return to all of my normal activities. in the time he said I'd be able. I highly recommend seeing Dr. Shah!

Let me clarify by saying that the appointment with Dr. Shah went very well and I probably would have given him at least a 4. My experience with the PA in this office was absolutely horrible. I have never in my life been treated so rotten. It started with Dr. Shah asking me to get a copy of the CT I had previously had taken by another doctor and then drop it off at his office. I drove 1 1/2 hours and was told by the receptionist that she couldn't take it. After some discussion she called back to Dr. Shah's office and his PA Brian, at least he told me he was the PA, called me back and started treating me like I was an idiot, telling me I needed an appointment. He insisted I make an appointment and I reminded him that Dr. Shah had wanted me to drop off the CD. He told me he didn't know when Dr. Shah could look at the CD. He was rude and arrogant and as far as I am concerned shouldn't be in the medical field. Both my primary care doctor and my health insurance company have been trying to get through to Dr. Shah but Brian has told me that there would be no final report and that my primary care doctor and I have to go through him, not Dr. Shah. I will never again go to that office. It's too bad because I think Dr. Shah is probably one of the best Orthopedic doctors that deal with hips.

I had a total knee replacement revision done in 2015 due to some really bad complications as a result of a previous knee surgeries and a knee replacement done by other orthopedic surgeons. I was not able to walk very well and was in constant pain. Then I met Dr. Ritesh Shah from Illinois Bone and Joint Institute, my orthopedic savior! His experience changed my future. He removed the old knee replacement and gave me one that would correct my problems. Now it is 3 years later and I can walk faster than my kids sometimes! He is very patient during office visits. He will wait until he has answered your questions thoroughly. I highly recommend Dr. Shah. I only wish I would have met him for the 1st knee replacement then I would not have had any problems.
