Sad to see so many negative reviews on here regarding such a great establishment. Aside from the fact that Dr. Mettu is only in office a couple of days a week, and has many patients which caused him to be behind schedule... I waited an hour to see him, but it was well worth it. This was my first time seeing a GI doctor and he was very thorough when discussing my concerns. His staff was super friendly as well & answered all questions I had. They were on top of temperature checks and safety precautions regarding COVID as well. I would definitely recommend Suburban Gastroenterology!

I am still a patient and have been for 15 years. I have so many stories about my experiences there. Unfortunately the ones you remember are the ones where people Dr’s etc fall far below the standard required. In 2017 I had to have a major operation on my upper GI at one of the Chicago teaching hospital. As I have/had Crohne’s disease the surgeon at Rush asked me to speak with my Dr at SGI about when to stop taking the immune suppressant I take. After days of trying to get an answer from SGI’s senior Dr I was advised that he would not give me an opinion on the drug he was prescribing and sent me to the head of gastro at North Western. I was dumbfounded. There were a slew of other issues at the time up to and including surly unprofessional staff in the operating area nurses who were not competent to put a line in me (they actually changed the sheets there was so much blood on them) unresponsive doctors loss of messages etc. A complaint was made to the manager. I did get a phone call and apology from the Dr involved, but I switched Drs within the practice. Move forward three years. I have Covid 19. I am again trying to get someone to give me an opinion. I still take a strong immune suppressant and I am trying to get an answer from someone over there regarding the taking of an immune suppressant while having the worlds most virulent virus that has made millions upon millions very ill, up to and including death I have left messages, contacted them through the Klara system. Nothing except some fool called me to make an appointment a day or two before Christmas.IN THREE WEEKS!!!! There are several other issues, but the more I write the less impact this review will have at this stage, however my advice is, for your sanity quite apart from your health go somewhere else!

Dr. Kastin is a good listener. I'm comfortable that he clearly understood my situation and that his feedback was very appropriate.

I tried calling to schedule for 2 days. No one ever answered the phone, hold music forever. I tried their 'faster service' text message service, did back and forth with someone for 3 more days, still no pre screen scheduled. I was told someone would call me, but they never did. I finally gave up and called DuPage Medical Group and had pre screen appointment set up within 5 minutes. I'm not sure what is happening with this place or if they are going out of business, but it was strange to me that they can't even answer the phone or setup an appointment.
