Horrible people horrible receptionist. They have no manners they have no idea how to be polite. Customer service is horrible and to be honest I don’t see the point of doing anything here if I just need to send the letter to Chile to be get notarized by even more people. I just can’t wait to be done with them.

Once you are in the consulate office , they are nice and efficient, but don't make any complaints...they don't want to hear about it..for instance, I complained about how difficult it was to contact them through the phone to ask a question about picking my renewed documents up, and since I couldn't get them, I just went, skipping a day of work, going from NEW JERSEY, and the guards in the lobby didn't want to let me in because I didn't have an appointment , they told me to CALL the consulate to seek for a solution, after half an hour I finally got somebody on the phone and allowed me in. Otherwise they are efficient with the document work, which is the more important thing, that's why I gave 4 stars

They never answer the phone and when you email them they just respond with their phone number no matter what the subject and body of the email is. These people just avoid any actual work.

I have lived in NY for a long time and have renewed my documents many times. When I realized the other day that both my passport and ID had expired my stomach sank at the thought of having to contact the consulate. There is no information on the website and the one phone number is always busy. I just spent quite a long time trying to find information on how to go about it and couldn't find anything. I also tried to call and just like it was a few years back the phone was always busy. Very frustrating, makes me want to not update my documents :o(( You would think that being the consulate in NYC it would be more clear on the important information on their website and be more reachable.
