The Fullersburg Woods Nature Museum is a wonderful place to bring children, where you can read books, play in the indoor \tree house\, watch birds at the feeders, check out various animals (like fish, turtle and snake), do hands on activities with natural items, make animal tracks in putty, and play with wildlife themed puzzles and puppets. There is a bathroom which is clean. There is a deck area with Adirondack chairs and a picnic area. Overlooks the river. Walking trails surround it. Beautiful ten minute walk to next to the river down to Graue Mill historic site and Museum.

Fullersburg Woods is an absolutely beautiful place to visit the outdoors. There is a well marked gravel path that snakes a loop around Salt Creek. There are a number of little trails to cut the loop shorter of you need to shorten it. There are also a couple of bridges across the Creek that led themselves to gorgeous views. This is a great spot for animal watching. At my visit, I saw a mink for the first time in my life! Also a great spot for a picnic. There are many tables and benches scattered throughout.

To be honest, this nature area is no different from the average forest preserves of Cook County. We made a special trip recently just to check it out. There was a lake and about four miles of trails. We enjoyed the outing but there was not much memorable. The trails are not far from the road and residential areas. I would recommend the Little Red School House area of Palos reserve or the Lake Catherine Nature Center. These two areas are much prettier than Fullersberg Wood.

I bike here on a weekly basis, great location! There's a good challenge at the start, going up the hill, gliding down and over the bridge to a sharp turn is so much fun. Not a long path, only about 3 miles, but it's a great workout for beginners and maybe even some intermediate bike riders. It's especially beautiful and scenic during the fall! Plenty of fishing spots, too!

You should come here especially in autumn. Leaves of all colors are here!
