Have gone to Dr. Stassen for 25 years. I really like and trust him. Have had an ulcer and polyps and and he has been great.
Dr Stassen has been a very good doctor for me. He quickly diagnosed an unusual gallbladder problem and later a malignancy. He is always gracious and attentive, remembers my family members, and has been a great help over the past decade. He was highly recommended by my previous specialist, and I have been pleased. Sometimes the office organization at Austin gastro is slow, but I have had a great experience as Stassen's patient.
Run as fast as you can from Dr. Stassen and his team. He misdiagnosed my husband with IBS for 5 years then after numerous meds and colonoscopies, finally figured out it was colitis. On one of our last visits he prescribed steroids for my husbands worsening stomach issues. Two weeks later my husband took himself off of those and during an office visit let Stassen know he was having serious trouble breathing. Stassen gave him a list of specialists he could make an appt with. An hour later my husband goes to our family doctor who tells him to get to the nearest ER. After 4 days in the hospital he's been diagnosed with advanced heart failure. My husbands doctor was floored that Stassen didn't take the warnings seriously and asked if Stassen even had a medical degree! He and his team are in the business of making money at the cost of patients' health. He's not up on the latest treatments and his mode of operation is.... keep them coming back for treatment whether the treatment works or not--total money grab.
