I recently participated in the upper river rafting trip offered by Green River Adventures. I thought the actual rafting part of the trip was 5 stars. Unfortunately it went downhill from there. When you finish rafting, you are expected to carry your raft uphill on a gravel pathway that they say is .7 miles but felt much longer than that. They say the rafts are 25 lbs. but they felt much heavier and were bulky to carry. They demonstrate how you can either carry them on your head or your shoulder, both of which were very difficult for most members of our group. The gravel pathway was very slippery and the pathway was very steep in parts. When you finally get to the top, they tell you there are drinks in the cooler. Only after you drink them do they tell you to make sure you pay for them when you get back. I have done many canoe, kayaking and rafting trips and this company seemed very small time compared to the others. They could upgrade their level of classiness by charging a few more dollars and providing a bottle of water and some snacks at the end (granola bar, nuts. etc.) Most importantly, they need to figure out a way to get the rafts up the hill without making their patrons carry them!!!

Did the Lower Green River kayaking with my sister. Excellent adventure for all ages but do recommend a degree of fitness. Some of the rapids do require some strength to stay straight. Helpful guides and good adherence to COVID protocols. My sis (28f) & I (33f) are very fit and had no issues with the kayaking. Definitely different than ocean kayaking though. Can't wait to do the Upper River portion.
Went waterfall rappelling and trekking. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience and a workout. If you think that it's for beginners it's definitely not!!
We kayaked the upper green this past Friday with Tim as our guide. The day we went the conditions were a little more extreme than usual. The night before it had rained a lot and during the entire length of our trip it had poured causing the river to be super high and powerful. Tim handled the situation very professionally and made sure we were all safe. It was definitely an experience I’ll never forget. Definitely recommend coming here for some thrill seeking adventures!
Tuesday 7/21/2020 As a chronic traveler of frequent water sport enthusiast I think I can paint a solid picture of Green River Adventures We made the trip from Cashiers, NC to Green River and it was an easy 90 minute drive. They parking was secure, the staff was friendly and the trip was great. Sam and Amy were our guides for the water challenge that started on time at 1pm. We were back on site by 5pm. The bathrooms on site were clean and they were Covid compliant They were highly knowledgeable and expertly trained. Our group of 14 ranged from 10 to 48. They handled it all like a boss. My son is 15 and my daughter is 11 and they loved it. We had a blast and would highly recommend it. We hiked, repelled, swam and left no trace. Instruction A Location A Explanation of instructions A Location A Guides A Value A Would highly recommend and go again. They fed us a snack while on the adventure and brought water for those that needed it. If in Texas ...tube the Comal River and use Landa Falls Tube Service. If in Mississippi... kayak and use the outfitter Okatoma, in Louisiana use Louisisna River Adventures. And when you are in North Carolina ... use Green River Adventures. They are great.
