I've been checking up with owner Mamiko as to when she'll be open. Finally, that day came and I was ecstatic making my way there as soon as possible. Upon arriving, I noticed her stall being one of the cleanest around. It was deck out with noren among other traditional Japanese artwork. It can be converted into a sushi bar if she wants to with minimal changes. Just saying. Menu is limited to two offerings: katsu, curry, or combo. I went with the combo consists of katsu, rice, spring mixed, pickled veggies, and a cup of curry. Everything was nicely put together with care in a take-out box. Box was handed to me as open-box to prevent katsu from sogginess due to condensation. Katsu had a light golden coating being slightly crunchy and not drenched in heavy sauce. Rice was perfectly cook not mushy or broken apart. Spring mix was bury on bottom with miso-ginger dressing lightly coating each leafy sprig. The curry was definitely the star and highlight of my meal. Japanese curry is not as hot as Indian curry, but it does have a mild sweet/salty taste. Later, Mamiko came over to check on me asking how's the meal? I reacted with a mouthful pointing to curry cup telling her it was really good and hearty tasting. She was delighted to hear that, then told me it's her mom's recipe. Mama sure knows how to raised a daughter to cook like her lol. Absolutely delicious and filling any time of the day.
