Great wildlife rescue center. They have a small but lovely visitor center with all sorts of animal facts and exhibits. Really lovely people who care deeply about local Cali wildlife. Currently only available to drop off rescues because of Covid.

These knowledgeable, friendly, and compassionate staff are doing incredibly valuable work. Bring your kids to see animals you would otherwise not be able to get so close to, learn a lot, and expose them to people working hard to help other creatures. Try to be there during the pelican feeding time. It's pretty cool.

I was on a jog and found an injured rodent laying helplessly on the ground. A person or an animal (probably an owl) had injured his spine, so he was unable to move his hind legs. I took him to Wildcare San Rafael, and they nursed him back to health and re-released him a month later. He turned out to be a rat, but he was so starved he looked more like a vole. They fattened him up and healed up his spine, and now he's running around enjoying life back in the woods where I found him. I will never forget how pathetic he looked when I first found him, and I won't forget how great a job Wildcare did rehabilitating him. My wife and I will be making a donation

I brought in an injured pigeon and found out a few days later that it had been shot by a pellet gun. Sadly, it had to be euthanized but the person who let me know was kind and explained everything that had been done to try and save the animal. I'm impressed that San Rafael has this wonderful resource and the people who working to help are all dedicated to treating and releasing the wildlife brought in back to their respective areas. Thank you WildCare.
