My child has been attending dance classes at the Ballard Academy for 3 years. She's taken ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and contemporary. I will never forget the drawing she made after her first recital - she was so proud of being onstage with all the people clapping for her! BAMD is a school that builds confidence and welcomes students as they are. It is not a toxic dance culture. My daughter leaves every class feeling better about herself. The teachers are wonderful and I cannot recommend this studio enough!

My kids have been taking music and dance lessons at the Ballard Academy for over ten years. The Academy has helped us through a change from clarinet to saxophone, and as an interest in ukelele turned into an interest in violin. My daughter has danced there since she was 2 and the academy has given her the chance to try ballet, tap, hip-hop and contemporary. The staff are friendly and accessible and the spring recital (under normal conditions) is an amazing experience for the kids to dress up and perform on a big stage. But I'm most appreciative of the folks there right now (November 2020) during social distancing. They're offering virtual classes AND very small, very safe in-person dance classes. Going there to dance is my daughter's favorite experience every week. She is LOVING a chance to be in a room with people who are not her family - and move. It's a refreshing change from all of her other virtual experiences. Thank you Ballard Academy!

Our daughter has been taking dance classes for the past 6 years at BAMD. (Tap). We love the teachers and staff. They are incredibly supportive of her growth and have really helped her build confidence. The school's philosophy also deeply resonates with our values as well. With COVID hitting businesses, the school has taken necessary steps to maintain health and safety and balance meaningful teaching/learning opportunities. The space the teachers and staff provide for students has become such a special part of our daughter's childhood. We love being a part of this dance community!

We LOVE the Ballard Academy of Music and Dance. This is our second year doing dance classes for 2 of our kids. We all love the teachers and the environment. The teachers are skilled at both dance & technique as well as teaching children. Their prices are reasonable and comparable to the area. Be prepared for a 1 time costume purchase fee for the end of year recital. It is worth the price and turns into a great play outfit afterwards. We've recommended Ballard Academy of Music and Dance to many friends looking for dance classes.
