I Went through the program with oregon to become a volunteer and had no problems , however when moving to wa I was informed I would have to start all over with them, no problem as I have waited two years for this opportunity . I get through the whole program once again , then a day before my swear in I get a call from the program coordinator stating beacuse I opened up about my partner being in a custody battle ( witch is not related to casa nor does his son use casa ) that I can not continue. The program coordinator sounded very cold as she broke my heart and dreams of helping those who have no voice for a better life. So just as a warning to others , if you sign up for this program, what you say will be used against you even if they had not previously asked anything before starting the program if we had our own personal lifes that included court. Mind you this is not my custody battle as well, and again he does not use casa. Very upsetting to put that much effort Into a voluntary position just to be turned away by another state when the precious state you just registered with saw no issue.

You cannot always trust a volunteer especially one with little training and who doesn't get paid to have a say in what's best for your child . From experience they offer 1 home visit and tell you when they are going to stop by which isn't very feasable because anyone could clean and make sure everything \ looks \ like a stable and safe place for a child and the rest are phone interviews that they make and even this isn't really thought out when it comes to a volunteer because the volunteer would call 9 at night or put off your interviews you schedlues with them because \ they are just volunteers \ so basically it feels like your case involving the lives and well being for your children aren't so much important . I experienced very unprofessional behavior and have even discovered that I would rather hire a professional advocate who gets paid to look into my case thoroughly and be in debt paying them every dime than to have a \ volunteer \ who is way less professional with little training and could make a negative report because you spoke up against them and tried to notify their supervisor about their \ work \ .
