Good for kids
Other than the mistake I made in not realizing I could get back on the highway after visiting, it was a worthwhile short diversion on the way to the airport in Salt Lake. I wouldn't drive a great distance just to see Sego Canyon, however. Not a lot of visible petroglyphs and as others have said, a fair bit of graffiti. The road is good until you get to the petroglyphs. It didn't looks so good farther along, so we didn't see the deserted town.

There are no signs to lead you to this amazing rock art area dating back thousands of years. It's only a few miles north of I-70 at the Thompson Springs exit in Utah. Very accessible by car and the art is easily seen from the road. Thompson Springs is about 70 miles west of Grand Junction, Colorado. It's well worth the visit!
Not what I expected. Tiny little spots to look at. Sadly graffiti all around. Several of the pics of art were on a wall across the road behind barbed wire and marked private property. Unless this is really your thing....I could have done without the extra stop and gotten more from the photos already on Google.
My only complaint is that I REALLY wanted to get a much closer look at the preserved paintings, but fencing and overgrowth kept me from doing so. Apparently the sight is located on private property, so there are only a few view points. All in all though a super cool piece of Native American culture. Definitely worth checking out!
Very cool place. There is a restroom. easy walk to get to the doodles lil further up is a lil cemetery and pcs of a town
