Thank you for a great rental! We had booked a charter tour through one of the larger lines and were told when we arrived in Seward that the ship was overbooked and our tickets were canceled. Thankfully Louie saved the day and had us on the water in the Raspy Marie quickly. He was very helpful getting us set and ready to go, and once the rain passed we had a smooth ride, beautiful views, and got to do some fishing. The boat was clean and stocked with all we needed and launching and docking was easy.

We went to Seward with the intent of using another company. When we got there, the boat they promised us was rented out. So we called Silver Boat 4 rent and they were able to take care of us on short notice. My family of 6 had plenty of room to fish off the boat. The our board motor was tuned and ran like a top. The fishing gear on board was exactly what we needed to fish In resurrection bay. Nearly every family member limited out! We got to see sea lions, doll porpoises, grey whales that breached within feet of the bow of the boat!! Harbor seals, otters and so much more! It was a fantastic experience!

I really hate to write a bad review and only gave it 2 stars because the boat was in good shape and clean otherwise this would be a 1 star review. Now the bad...we told the owner we were going to Aialik Glacier about a 3 hours boat ride from Seward port. We made it to Aialik Bay thru some pretty rough water but manageable. Spent a couple hours at Aialik Bay and knew we were going to hit some rough water on the way home so we didn't stay as long as we would have liked. What we didn't know was a small craft advisory had been issued and the fog was rolling in. He had NO way-points set in his GPS and the seas were probably 6 plus feet...and were in a 21 ft boat. I have owned and operated a boat for over 30 years and this is the second time in my life I have stuck on a life jacket. The first time was 25 yrs ago when we were in a storm that sunk 25 boats at Temple Bar AZ. I had brought with me a handheld GPS with a 'tracks' feature which saved us in the fog. As for me 'my bad' I did not do a better job of checking the weather (Please note if you have a Sprint phone in Alaska they do not work ANYWHERE...so do some research and make sure you have a phone that can reach google to get you around, maps, diner reviews and WEATHER REPORTS etc. etc.) The almost 4 hour ride back thru 6 foot plus seas is one the scariest and most dangerous situation I have been in in my lifetime and came within in minutes of contacting the Coast Guard. In conclusion I feel he should have checked the weather and let us know upcoming weather, yes my bad for not double checking as the captain it was my job as the rental company it was his job to let us know or contact us by radio or phone. If you go out of Seward in one of these small boats please check, double check and triple check the conditions. In this particular case I believe the owner was more interested in renting out his boat than the safety of our family renting the boat.
