Staten Island, United States
Tompkins St

The elevation of this once formidable fort allows for scenic and panoramic views of New York harbor, with Manhattan’s famed skyline and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in full view. History buffs would be interested in learning about the history and strategic significance of the port, and in particular, its role in housing the soldiers that man the fort. From here, follow the walk path to Battery Weed, the historic bunker and fortress beneath the fort.

Amazing place. Beautiful views
Gorgeous view! This is a place Ive always watched as I cross the Verrazano bridge and everytime I wondered what it was, had no idea! So glad to finally see it and know some of its history.
Its a Great place to watch the Fleet Week Parade of Ships New York Harbor Entry from in front of Fort Tompkins on Hudson Road at Tompkins Street. You can see and hear their cannon salute from Fort Hamilton. Then watch the ships salute at the Statue of Liberty.
An uncurated ruin protecting NY harbor at the Narrows. Sometimes open on the weekends.
Always good
