I had never done personal training before, but had a great experience working with Adam. He was super knowledgable and kind, and pushed me but also always made it approachable and accessible. Great facility and great people, and the price felt more than fair for the skills I gained (for me, strength building exercises form). Highly recommend.

I've been training with Jenny for about 4 months, and she is FANTASTIC! She understands how to get the results that I want, and really tailors the workouts to my specific needs. I've also worked with Thomas, Adam, and Pete, and they are all amazing too. If you're looking for an amazing personal trainer, The Art of Personal Training is the place to go! Their prices may be higher than other places, but for the personal attention and quality of training it is worth it!

I have been a regular at The Art of Personal training for over 3 months now. I can say without a single doubt that it has completely changed my life for the better. First of all, the PEOPLE are everything here. I have worked with every single trainer: Jenny, Thomas, Peter, and Adam. They are incredible, top-notch trainers who really PAY ATTENTION to your individual needs, goals, body issues, rehab/recovery priorities, etc. This is such a different experience from just seeing that one trainer at a bigger gym once or twice a week who doesn't have the same dialed-in focus to make your experience tailored to your needs. I know personal training is a pricey investment...that cannot be denied. But it is an investment in yourself, your health--your true wealth, and for me, that has drastically improved my overall sense of well-being by increasing my strength, flexibility, mental and emotional wellness, sense of community and support and level of energy in my day. This is priceless. Thank you to these incredible trainers who meet you where you are, become not just a coach, but a FRIEND, and really help you achieve your fitness goals by mapping out strategic workouts and tailoring the pace at which you level up. I would 100% recommend this establishment to anyone who is willing to put in the work, needs some focused guidance, and prefers the advice of experts!

If you're thinking about personal training, this is your place. The Art of Personal Training is like your very own Cheers bar: everybody knows your name and you're always glad you came. This is the best personal training I have ever experienced, and all the trainers provide truly customized, results-driven sessions. I am very pleased with my results in only three months of working out with Rafa. His professional knowledge in bio-mechanics has given me more knowledge and confidence about my own body, movement, strength, and flexibility. He makes every session count and is a lot of fun, too. Great location and great gym: intimate but with plenty of room to work out with your trainer. Highly recommend!

Home of the best 1-on-1 trainers in Portland! I've been going there for 3 years and the changes in strength and flexibility, as well as the elimination of chronic pain in several areas have made me a new person. Every trainer is focused, knowledgeable, can work around whatever issue you've got, and most importantly they push you further than you'd ever push yourself. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Overall, Art of Personal Training helped me achieve some results and helped me have a good hold on the Hip Hinge movement. I trained 88 sessions with Thomas (Aug. 2016-Jan. 2018) and he is a good trainer although he didn't keep a record of my progress and it was a hit and miss (guess) on increasing with weights as I progressed in sessions. As the result my progress wasn't what I expected. An area that this personal training facility is lacking- They don't take measurements to show your achievements in muscle, tone, etc. I mentioned this to the owner Kisar but the practice was never adopted. It is not uncommon for trainers to take measurements every few months and provide a report of your muscle progress, body fat, etc. I provided goals/plan at the start of my training, but it was never reviewed with me or followed. One of my goals was to increase muscle, which was never measured. My last several sessions were robotic, felt like Thomas wasn't engaged with my training. After I completed my 88th session, I sent Thomas a message saying I would gladly offer feedback but he never contacted me for the feedback. On the economic side, their prices climbed 5-7% every year which is steep in my opinion especially when their prices were already high. Sadly, this personal training was not the best for my pocketbook and effort, despite their claim to be the elite.

I've been working hard here for almost a year and I feel stronger and consistently notice the changes in my body and confidence. I've worked with Kisar and currently with Jenny. Jenny is inspiring and pushes me in a positive way toward my own goals while checking in about life knowing that stress management and balanced eating are also essential. Even though I haven't worked directly with Peter he also takes the time to talk with me. They show a personal interest in all of their clients and develop a supportive community in a clean, open space. I feel lucky to have this experience.

I've been working out at the Art of Personal Training for about 3 months and absolutely love it! I've done personal training before, but the experience I've had at this gym doesn't even compare to my previous experiences. Mallory is awesome! She is super personable and keeps my workouts exciting by switching up what we do each time. I've also seen really great results in a short amount of time. My arms are getting really toned and if I lay off the beer, I know my stomach will get there shortly :) I would highly recommend the Art of Personal Training to anyone that is interested in pushing themselves alongside motivated trainers, in an intimate setting.
