We moved here almost a year ago and I've been searching for a piano teacher for my 6 y/o. I'm so thankful to have been referred here! At last we have found a good fit for my daughter. I highly recommend this music school to anyone searching for a place that goes beyond a traditional lesson. They've incorporated multiple ways to teach children. A.

Our daughter has been a student of the Virginia Academy of Music and Arts (and previously a student at the Laura Hill Music Academy), for over six years. Our daughter came to the Academy as a young middle schooler who was “done” with piano lessons. Her previous teacher didn’t think there was any point in continuing lessons because of this attitude. When we moved to the area I met with Maxine and explained the situation and asked her opinion. Fast forward to today and our daughter is an accomplished pianist winning several Superior Plus ratings and most importantly, loving her time on the piano. Part of her college application will include supplemental pieces that Maxine has helped her prepare for and helped to record. We are so grateful for the patient and thoughtful teaching that our daughter has received from Maxine!

We love this academy ! My 12 yr old takes flute lessons with Ms.Scott. She is a very patient teacher & makes learning flute interesting. My 10yr old takes saxophone lessons with Dr. Spece. He is a lot of fun and is very appreciative of her effort. We are very glad we found this place. Highly recommend Ms.Maxime & her teachers.

Addendum sept 2017: our kids had continued going for 2 more years and we are still very happy with Mrs Maxine, she recently moved to a bigger location close to Madison HS and they will start offering classes on other instruments ------------------------------------------------- Mrs Maxine is a very kind and patient teacher Our 6 years old son started 3 years ago in the little kids class, playing various music games and getting to know the mechanics of music gradually 2 years ago he and our daughter started having classes once a week and we have seen the progress occur in a very nice way during this time
