Every doctor and nurse we've worked with at Village has been fantastic. They take time to listen and respond to questions in detail. Great communication with the office staff, too.

I walked in to get my son's paperwork signed for school sports. Yvette and Mary at the front desk made my day! I They told me policy is a 48 hour turnarorund and I begged them to see if anyone was free to help me. Mary went back and got my paperwork signed. She went over and above, and they both did so with big smiles on their faces. SO refreshing and literally made my day!
I absolutely love my childrens' doctor here, but the administrative and billing department have driven us away. I would have never agreed to bring my daughter in for a kindergarten check up had I known it would cost over 500. They clearly didn't run her insurance before the visit as they said, and then slapped us with the bill. We had another insurance fiasco with my other daughter, for which we paid them over 600, and they are still harassing us for payment before anyone else in our family can be seen, because that "wasn't enough". Terrible communication, both with patients and with insurance companies. I would make sure to get a very clear, up-front number before agreeing to be seen here.
We absolutely love Dr. Slaymaker at Village Pediatrics and highly recommend him and the Village Pediatrics team. Dr. Slaymaker has a very calm and reassuring demeanor and has a tremendous ability to explain things to concerned and curious parents. We are truly grateful to have found such a great pediatrician who respectfully listens to parents and values their opinions and wishes. Thank you Village Pediatrics for taking such great care of my children.
Pro: Nursing and clinical staff are caring and informative Cons: Wait times are all too often over and hour long, that is completely unacceptable, we parents have jobs to tend to as well; It's faster to go to urgent care than to try to get in and seen with a scheduled appointment. You should revisit your over-booking practices. Front office staff is *VERY RUDE*, Examples: - When I asked for information about the flu vaccine for infants they referred me to go to their facebook page. I'd rather not obtain info like this from social media, and I don't regularly use facebook. They could instead just provide me the information when I call them. - After I scheduled an appointment to get my child the flu shot, I was called to move it up sooner because they were running out of shots, and it was out of their control. Why would you schedule an appointment if you aren't guaranteeing the flu shot be available? What difference does it make if I come tomorrow (when I can't) or when I scheduled it? The staff kept asking me if they should cancel the appointment for the flu shot that I had made since they won't have any more shots available then. It doesn't make sense to ask me this, clearly you already made the choice to not reserve a dose for my child for when I can take her in. Don't waste our time. - I was met with a lot of resistance when I asked that my child's portal be tied to a different email account. First, I never specified that I wanted it tied to my personal account, they just assumed that. Second, they were very reluctant to tying it a joint email account I have with my husband, stating that somebody needs to be the primary contact; We are both a primary contact, we are a family and share equal responsibility of our child's care and both should have common access to our child's health record. -Unfortunately I have other examples, but have to move on with my life. I am taking my child to another practice.
We had been going to Village Peds for 5 years. They have two sides to there operation, a check up side for normal visits and a sick side for sick kids. The nurses had always been great and we switched around to a couple of different doctors before settling on one. One persistent issue was one or two people at the front desk being really short and rude literally every time I saw her. She was this way with everyone. The straw that broke the camels back for me was due to a 5.03 bill, with accounting and the nurses saying that we couldn't return or use the services if the bill wasn't paid. We had tried to pay through the website multiple times, but it doesn't accept payments below 15 or something like that was the reason. The 5 became a form of harassment on their part as they would leave messages about it along with billing in the mail and emails. I spoke with the office manager who basically blamed me for not paying the bill, which we tried to do again multiple times. I also brought up the salty attitude of the front desk ladies and was treated as if I was there first one to say something which seems impossible. Anyway we switched to Leawood Pediatrics and WHOA! what a total dumpster fire this place is, currently looking for new again. Will leave a review of the complete ineptness of Leawood on their google site, I would stay away from them for sure. Hopefully Village Peds has changed there billing system and fired the front desk lady or at least sent her to extended sensitivity training somewhere as everything else was pretty good at least in comparison to Leawood Peds.
I know that everything looks different right now because of Covid, but I scheduled a well visit for my 5 year old daughter and during the prompt to schedule, it said “no siblings, if possible” I have an 11 month old baby and I took “it possible” to mean just that. I do not have childcare for my baby and brought her with me to the appointment. When I called to check in they canceled my daughters 5 year old well visit. Normally wouldn’t be a big deal, but there are several shots she needs before kindergarten. I was offered a virtual visit....how do you think that went?! The doctor spent 5 minutes asking my daughter questions, she was not able to assess her at all over the phone. I think this is ridiculous. We will be finding a new peds office.
Used to be great, but every appointment takes ridiculously long. For example, your kid will have a 3:00 appointment, you will still be there at 4:30. This is not due to COVID either, this has been goin on for years. Find another pediatrician that doesn’t overbook.
