This market is the only one within a 20 mile radius of El Dorado Springs MO. They have what you might call \a captive market\. If you need groceries this is were you get them in El Do. This town BTW is my hometown and this store is directly across highway 54 from my dad's house. ( I have to drive to the store because of the heavy traffic on 54. It is the main east/west highway through this part of the USA) . Wood's is a local chain having 7 stores in the general area. They are affiliated with Associated Wholesale Grocers, AWG, out of Springfield, MO. Their private label products are how to save money here. Nationally know brands are having a higher than at Wal-Mart, which is 20 miles west in Nevada, MO. Their private label products are know by \Always Save\ and \Best Choice\. I typically buy these to save a bit of money for my dad. I will say that the \Best Choice\ thick cut bacon in the 24 ounce pack is a great deal at 6.00 and some of the best bacon I've ever had! I generally get 2-3 packs at a time for dad's place and my home in Ark. The service seems to be a bit lacking and the shelves generally needs stocking and facing but... That's because they are \the only game in town\. I doubt this will ever change. As Lily Tomlin on laugh-in so famously put it... \we don't care. We don't have too\!
Its amazing how competition starts to regulate prices. If you haven't had the chance yet, go next door and check out the new Dollar General. The DG has a great selection of groceries, including fresh produce and frozen/cold goods, at very good prices, even when they're not on sale like you have to wait on at Wood's. And to top it off!!!, the FUDU line of foods in the deli at Wood's is terrible!! We used to eat lunch here a lot, but this stuff is awful!!
This store is really clean and their food displays are beautifully done. Cashiers are always nice. I feel the items are a little over priced compared to most grocery stores but they're lovely people and a good store to visit.
Woods always is a pleasant experience! The employees are beyond helpful!!
