Beautiful and welcoming B&B. We stayed in the spacious sweet and enjoyed our time staying in as much as our time out enjoying the town. Great breakfast and great job meeting dietary needs.
New owners "undo" the bnb. I stayed in the house a few years ago (under previous ownership) and loved it. I loved the dining room, the back patio, the living room, the back porch.... Now, most of the house is "private," robbing guests of the bnb experience. i.e. there is no community space. Part of the lower level is open for breakfast hour and happy hour, but the rest of the time you only have your bedroom. The check-in time was not flexible (denied for a one hour late check-in and had to send a friend to get keys). The owners didn't really engage with us, our friends, or the other guests. The coffee was good.....
Top notch!! My wife and I just returned from a weekend away in Decorah where we stayed at the B&B on Broadway. We could not have been more pleased with our stay! Our hosts were very friendly, the food was excellent, and the location in town was perfect! Plus, the Inspiration Suite was amazing! Well worth it! We will definitely be back!
The house is beautiful. The owners are nice and it's cute that their little boy has added his own small touches of artwork throughout the house. By far the most comfortable bed I've been ever slept in. Very nice! I was disappointed in the fact the house is closed off. I get that they live there, but we had heard great things about the garden and people mingling in the common areas when it was under the previous owners. But either way, better than staying in a boring hotel and it's downtown so you can walk to everything.
Agree with Joshua Moe's review below who mentioned the change in owners and the difference in attitude. We stayed under previous owners. OUTSTANDING then. They went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome. The NEW owners have closed down most of the home, and, push their weird diet preferences. The attitude is very clear now, "room for rent... you are an outsider and we just want your money." I suspect after the regulars dry up, and their frequently blocked calendar stops drawing guests, the FAKE REVIEWS won't be able to keep them in business. We came BACK to the B&B because of the previous owners and our outstanding experience. We will NOT be back again unless it is sold and managed by someone else.
Beautiful house, very comfortable, and our hosts made us feel very welcome. We especially enjoyed delicious wine and cheese by the fireplace in the evening. We were very pleased we stayed there.
